January is National Hot Tea Month! And since you’re still dutifully (ahem) sticking to your resolutions, we think it’s the perfect time to incorporate some health-boosting oolong tea into your routine. Here are a few of our favorite ideas to celebrate tea this month:
- Invite friends and family to a tea tasting. Set up your aroma set, share a little bit about each tea’s origin, and allow then allow everyone to sample several different types of tea, encouraging them to make notes about each tea’s aroma and flavor. For an oolong-themed tasting, use a variety of straight and scented oolongs.
- Treat yo’self! We know, we know: You’e practically addicted to your afternoon cup of Oriental Beauty. But may we suggest varying your routine by purchasing and brewing a tea you’ve never tried before? (We recommend our Tie Kwan Yin Oolong or Magnolia Oolong.) You may just discover a new favorite.
Spread the tea/love. Send a pack of our conveniently packaged tea bags to your favorite friend/teacher/mailperson/boss/barista– just because. They’ll get oolong, and you’ll get the warm fuzzies that come from doing a good deed. It’s a win-win.
- Organize a tea exchange. Invite six to eight friends over, instructing everyone to bring a tea tin with two portions of their favorite tea (tea bags work well; or use small Ziploc bags to contain loose tea – make sure they’re labeled!) Everyone throws their tea into a large container (an empty tea pot works well) and selects two teas to take home.
- Add some oolong flavor to your favorite foods. Recently, we wrote about our favorite ways to cook with oolong. Oolong-infused chili sounds perfect for a chilly winter day – or whip up a batch of oolong tea eggs to serve at your next tea tasting.
