Our New Tea of the Month Is Ginger Lily Oolong!

We’re super excited to announce that we’ve picked Ginger Lily Oolong as our February Tea of the Month. With its spicy-sweet flavor and mild, soothing aroma, we think it’s the perfect tea to warm you up as you brave this month’s frigid temps. Bonus: The ingredients in Ginger Lily Oolong have some pretty hefty health benefits, too. So go ahead: Drink up!

Ginger Is as Good for You as It Is Delicious

We ♥ ginger! Not only is it one of our go-to cooking spices for its natural spicy, sweet flavor, but we also love it because we know we’re putting something good in our bodies, too: Ginger has a long tradition of use in alternative medicine. Most of its benefits come from the compound gingerol, which has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant powers. It’s been recognized as treating nausea (especially pregnancy-related, including severe cases) and menstrual pain, as well as chronic indigestion.

Other heralded health benefits: Ginger may lower LDL (bad) cholesterol levels, and the presence of the compound 6-gingerol may even help prevent cancer.

Ginger Lily Has Health-Boosting Properties, Too

Native to tropical Asia and the Himalayas, Ginger Lily boasts health benefits including aiding digestion, reducing vomiting, and diminishing hiccups (which sounds to us like a more sure bet than drinking a glass of water upside down).

Ginger Lily is also thought to be helpful in treating liver conditions, indigestion, and poor circulation.

And Don’t Forget White Lily

White Lily, the third plant used in our Ginger Lily Oolong, grows in Western Asia and the Mediterranean. A highly aromatic flowering plant, it’s used by herbalists and naturalists to treat open wounds and cuts (it has antibacterial properties) as well as for indigestion and congestion; it is thought to be helpful in treating swelling, inflammation, and asthma.

White Lily also contains vitamins B1, B2 and C, as well as iron and calcium. It also contains flavonoids, which are thought to help treat a variety of diseases. Who knew that something so pretty – and so yummy -- could be so good for you?

Ginger Lily Oolong is 15% off during the month of February. Shop here to cozy up with a cup!
